My visa H1-B nd h4 visa was expired on june 30 2010. I have got an job offer and they filed my H1-B petition after july 20 2010. I have submitted my I140 and mine & my wife I485 applications in EB1 category on Feb 22 2010. The gap between the H1b process is nearly 20 days period. The USCIS has approved my H1 but my wife's H4 was denied.
Here is my question. Whether they would have kept the I-94 for me. How can we proceed with H4 denial situation. Please give me some suggesion

Atlanta EB victim,
What USCIS & DOS did to use on July 2nd should serve as a wakeup call for all
of us.
Can we get a head count of number of EB victims in Atlanta to start some constructive action against this injustice.

Thanks,
BB

Hi
I am currently working on my H1 for comapany A. They have filed my Labor on Dec-06 in EB-3. I have an approved I-140 and I-485 is currently pending.
I have got an offer from company B. They want me to switch on EAD and they said they will also file my H1 and i can then move back on H1.
My question is if i switch the company on EAD, can i switch back to H1B in new (Company C) or same company (Company B) and if so can i then swtich to EB-2 by filing new Labor and 140 using the same priority date.

A reader sent me a link to a post at the The Future of Capitalism blog reminding folks that being pro-immigration fits right in to a conservative agenda: David Cameron, the British "Conservative" Party leader who favors a top income tax rate of 50%, also wants immigration restrictions that would limit Great Britain's population over the next 20 years to 70 million. The Financial Times has an editorial with some reasons this is a bad idea. Here in America, the restrictionist Federation for American Immigration Reform is a bronze sponsor of next month's National Tea Party Convention. Here at FutureOfCapitalism.com,...

One of the comments on my post earlier today about the killed Border Patrol agent seemed pretty harsh - accusing most BP agents of being restrictionists with bad motives. I still think that's harsh and most Border Patrol agents are honestly out to do the necessary job of protecting our country's borders. But the timing of a major scandal involving Customs and Border Patrol certainly will make many people question just who the agency is hiring. According to the NY Times: After federal border agents detained several Mexican immigrants in western New York in June, an article about the incident...

Scenario:
Working on H1. Wife is on H4. Waiting for our EADs.
Planning to work for H1-GC sponsorer employer until (or I should say 6 months after) we get the GC.
I am running a website and am planning to sell the advertising space?
Q1: Can a H1 legally receive the money from website advertising on his/her website?
Q2: Can a H1 register DBA?
Q3: How about if H1 uses EAD, can then he register DBA and legally receive the money from website advertising? (I know once you use EAD your H1 becomes invalid).
Q4: I know I can register DBA in wife's name when she receive EAD? Is that the only option I have?
Please share your thoughts!
TIA.

Some paras from Information, Please (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/18/AR2007021801064.html): Watchdog Groups, Some Lawmakers Say Congressional Reports Should Be Made Public.
Elizabeth Williamson (http://projects.washingtonpost.com/staff/email/elizabeth+williamson/), Washington Post Staff Writer.
Deep inside the Library of Congress, 500 researchers pound out the secret intelligence Congress uses to make law.
Legislators request 6,000 Congressional Research Service reports a year, on weapons systems and farm subsidies, prescription prices and energy use. Together, they offer what lobbyists and industry want most: clues to what's next on the Hill.
For years, open-government groups have fought to make the reports public, and for years, many lawmakers have kept them under wraps. Or so they thought.
By insisting on secrecy, Congress instead created a bootleg market for the research. Every day, a small Texas company compiles the reports and sells them to lobbyists, lawyers and others who pay thousands of dollars for a peek at the reports and what they say about the congressional agenda. And it's all legal.
"How I get them is my trade secret . . . but I get them all," said Walt Seager, who digs up the reports for Gallery Watch, a legislative tracking service.
The Congressional Research Service (CRS) was established in 1914 as Congress's supplier of nonpartisan research and analysis. Its reports are neither classified nor copyrighted, but they've long been the exclusive property of lawmakers, who distribute them as they see fit. Taxpayers supply the agency's $100 million annual budget, inspiring open-government groups and some lawmakers, including Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) to push for public release of CRS reports.
Aftergood and others have fought back by posting every CRS report they can find on their Web sites. But watchdog groups have released only about 10 percent of the total, not enough to reveal the patterns that suggest what Congress might do next.
Subscribers to Gallery Watch pay about $4,000 a year to get all the CRS reports, online and searchable, delivered weekly.
At a recent meeting for potential customers, Riendeau explained that clients scan the reports for intelligence "kind of how the CIA operates," by spotting the political trends suggested by their contents and timing, he said. About a year ago, lawmakers made a flurry of requests for CRS reports related to North Korean counterfeiting of U.S. currency; not until months later, when the Treasury Department cracked down on North Korea, did the issue appear in newspapers.
